What is the reintegration to work after prolonged absence program
(Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement, BEM)?
The reintegration to work after prolonged absence program (Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement, BEM) is an offer of service to support your return to the workplace after phases of sick leave. With the help of JGU BEM representatives and, if applicable, other providers of advice and support, the goal is to find solutions for employees to work well with and despite of restrictions they face through health, to counteract aggravation of illness, as well as limit further absences. The BEM method is a process without any fixed expectations. That makes it possible to systematically search for individual solutions together to achieve an improvement of your ability to work. This offer is voluntary; you can decide if you want to take advantage of it.
Target group
First and foremost, BEM is an offer for all JGU employees who have been incapacitated for more than 6 weeks within the last 12 months. The 6 weeks can be either with or without interruptions. Of course, you can also contact us, for example, because you can already foresee your current absence from work lasting a long time and you would like to plan or search for assistance upon your return to the workplace.
Principles
- the BEM representative of the Johannes Gutenberg University: Andreas Foede. He advises employees and managers on all issues relating to BEM (or Dr. Jana Leipold as deputy BEM representative).
